Habitat for Humanity Canada
Habitat for Humanity Canada was looking to rebuild their main website, collapse three websites into one, move to a new CMS platform and align the new design to a new brand and web strategy.

THE CHALLENGE
To design an experience that feels more connected and flows more easily, addresses the needs of the different people who participate in it, and ultimately converts them to engage either through a donation or through volunteering.
MY ROLE
As lead product designer on this website, I worked closely with a junior designer, UX researcher and developer to build out the website, creating a design system that would work with the component-based CMS.
THE PROCESS
Prior to the design phase of this project, there was in-depth research and discovery done to gather insights from users as well as stakeholders. All of this work greatly informed the designs from the get-go. We learned that users needed a clearer path to donations and information about Habitat Canada and its impact. From stakeholders, we learned the requirements around promoting and managing global and local build trips.
The design process was broken down into 10 week-long sprints. In each sprint, we focused on designing several sections of the website to demonstrate how the design system would function, and how components could fit together in several layouts within Craft CMS.
THE RESULT
Once all the necessary components were designed, I built out a style-guide and component library that outlined the rules governing each component and guidelines for the ways in which these components and widgets could work together to build a page. The development team used this guide to build out each component, and I worked closely with their team to ensure that everyone was in alignment.
